The process: From start to finish

Planning Stage

This starts with a conversation. It is important to me to meet and get to know the people I am photographing, initially with no camera. We will work together so I understand your goals for the shoot and I can walk you through some creative options to get you there, from what to wear to the time of day and best location to capture the best portrait.

I was a teacher before becoming a photographer. Before we begin I a photo shoot I will explain what to expect and why things work visually. During the session I will periodically stop to show you the images on the back of my camera, so that we can make adjustments as we go. We will also we play! Sometimes the best photographs come from the spontaneity of experimentation in the moment. In some cases we will take time at the end of the session to review the set of images and pick those images you would like edited. You will leave the photo session with a good sense of what we captured.

Post processing

Editing is a critical step. Everything from the crop to contrast affects the feel of the image. This takes time, and I work hard to return the images within a few business days. Once I share the set, you will have an opportunity to give further suggestions.

Final Product

I provide you  the .jpg files of your images. For additional minor cost I offer traditional prints in all different sizes, and can print on other surfaces like canvas or wood. Photo books are another fun option. In all cases you can decide what you would like, once you have seen the images. Selection is done a la carte.
